Shawn Spencer and Bruton Gaster Burton Guster are back! Peacock has announced a November 18th premiere date for the next installment of the Psych movie franchise, Psych 3: This Is Gus. Here is a synopsis for the film:
“In preparation for a shotgun wedding before the birth of Baby Guster, Shawn and Groomzilla Gus go rogue in an attempt to track down Selene’s estranged husband, as Lassiter grapples with the future of his career.”
That’s not all. On top of the premiere date announcement, Peacock also released a trailer for the upcoming flick. You can check that out down below:
Psych ended its eight season run in 2014 but, the beloved series has managed to stay alive through these one-off movies.
Back in 2017 (before the release of the first Psych movie), series creator Steve Franks talked with Entertainment Weekly about his vision for Psych going forward.
Franks envisioned making six total Psych movies and looked at the Fast and Furious franchise for inspiration:
[In the same] way that the Fast and the Furious movies used to be about street-racing and they’ve pivoted into heist movies and all that stuff, I kind of want the [Psych] movies to pivot into action-comedy where you can do something that feels like a feature movie and not just two episodes of Psych put together. Because as fun as it is to watch this show, it’s nothing compared to how fun it is to write this show and to make this movie.”
Psych 3: This Is Gus stars James Roday Rodriguez, Dulé Hill, Maggie Lawson, Timothy Omundson, Corbin Bernsen, Kirsten Nelson, and Jazmyn Simon. As mentioned above, the film will be available to stream starting on November 18 via the Peacock streaming service.
